SouthStars FAQ

  • The SouthStars Soccer Club is a thriving youth soccer organization dedicated to nurturing young talent and promoting a passion for the sport. With a strong focus on skill development and teamwork, the club provides a supportive environment for aspiring athletes to grow both on and off the field.

  • The key distinction between club soccer and recreational soccer lies in their level of competitiveness and structure. Club soccer typically involves more competitive play, higher-level coaching, and organized leagues, while recreational soccer is more focused on casual play and enjoyment for all skill levels without the same level of competition or formal coaching.

  • Children typically participate in three events per week, although there are instances when this number may rise due to weekend tournaments.

  • We strive to provide opportunities that are both age appropriate and sensitive to the demands of work and family life. At the younger ages, teams attend two tournaments in the fall and two in the spring. All tournaments are LOCAL. As teams get older, age appropriate tournament selection could involve some travel. Some coaches may choose to do more tournament’s but only in consultation and input from families.

  • The fees encompass winter training, which includes options for field rental during practices, indoor soccer, or participation in a futsal league. However, attendance during the winter sessions is not mandatory.

  • Absolutely! We do ask that Soccer is primary in the Fall.

  • Participation in winter trainings/seasons is voluntary, but for the spring season, we encourage parents to collaborate with the coach to establish availability as early as possible.

  • Uniforms are on a 2 year rotation.

  • The coach determines which kits to purchase but this will typically range from $150 to $230. This does not include optional items such as bags or jackets.

  • In order to maintain affordability compared to other clubs, our coaching staff is entirely composed of volunteers. These volunteers undergo a thorough interview process and are mandated to acquire at least an F-level Soccer coaching license through the Ohio Soccer Association, with background checks conducted for all coaches.

Additionally, we offer a more cost-effective option for families who want quality soccer training without the hefty price tag associated with larger clubs.

  • SouthStars SC places a strong emphasis on player development within our intimate club setting. Our dedicated club trainers begin working with players as early as the U11 age group, with the objective of not only preparing them for high school soccer but also nurturing leadership qualities.
